    In this video we will see how to make Sakkarai Pongal / Sweet Pongal recipe in Tamil. Pongal is a south indian festival dedicated to agriculture and harvest. There are two main Pongal recipes Khara Pongal which is ideal for breakfast and sweet pongal which is a dessert. This pongal should ideally be cooked with freshly harvested rice and jaggery. Freshly harvested rice has a lot of moisture on it along with several nutrients and it has a very different taste and mouth feel to it. You should definitely try the recipe that way.
    My dad loves farming and I used to harvest paddy with a little knife when I visited the fields. I still remember those lovely days every time I make this recipe.

    Take rice, jaggery

    Take rice, jaggery, soaked gram dal, moong dal, ghee, cashew, raisins and cardamom and milk

    Roast Moong Dal

    Wash rice and keep rice water for later use, Dry roast moong dal for 2 mins and wash

    Take a Pot

    Take a pot add milk, rice water(arisimandi or kazhani thanni), bermuda grass and 6 to 7 glasses of water

    Allow it to boil

    Allow it to boil and add rice and moong dal mix well till rice cook

    Add Jaggery

    Once rice cooked well mash it completely, add cardamom powder, grated jaggery mix well

    Fry cashew nuts and raisins

    Add pinch of salt, keep the pot on low flame for 15 mins mix frequently, fry cashew nuts and raisins along with ghee

    Pour ghee to sweet pongal and mix well
